Ronchini Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of the Roman artist Matteo Basilè.

Second time protagonist at Ronchini’s Gallery, the artist exhibits six works of art that belong to the series “thisoriented”, an art project displayed at the 53 Edition of the Venice Biennale in 2009.

Through Basilè’s photographic works, characters on the edge of reality blend among technology, global communication and sublimity; perfect symbiosis of a universal creed that has man as its epicenter. The human is the fundamental element, always and everywhere, shrouded in real, surreal, magic and disturbing symbols that interweave into the perfect balance of the artist’s iconographic universe. The series “thisoriented” has been made and realized in South East Asia, where “thisoriented”, playing upon words, indicates the Orient disoriented by the globalization of the contemporary. A real surreal which even in its creation bears the reliable signs of a computer, the artist’s prosthesis, that joins the beauty of his formal choices until reaching a visual ecstasy.

The works are magnified visions between a technological mannerism and a pictorial surrealism that temptingly accompany towards something disorienting, in that not belonging to an ordinary symbolic representation, except for the image of the human itself.

Matteo Basilè was born in Rome in 1974. He lives and works between Bali (Indonesia) and Rome.
